Water consumption of three ornamental species with the suction irrigation system

نویسندگان

چکیده

Objective: To evaluate water consumption in ornamental plants (geranium, gazania and petunia) two substrates with different particle sizes (fine coarse) of tezontle peat moss, through a suction irrigation system, which uses porous capsules as emitters. Design/methodology/approach: The experimental design was complete randomized blocks, six treatments (three species substrates) four repetitions (24 units). first mixture contains fine substrate (composed size less than 0.4 mm) 1:2 v/v ratio; the second presents coarse between 0.4-0.6 1:1 v/v. Results: In consumption, there are significant differences by type substrate, where system has ability to self-regulate. highest petunia (which higher proportion moss its composition). Limitations on study/implications: With use protected agriculture, rural urban orchards, gardens, walls green roofs research purposes. Findings/Conclusions: capacity continuously supply demanded plant-substrate-atmosphere system.

The Response of Ornamental Plants to Saline Irrigation Water

Salinity affects about one third of irrigated land, causing a significant reduction in crop productivity (Flowers & Yeo, 1995; Ravindran et al., 2007). For this reason researchers have paid considerable attention to this important environmental problem over the last decades. Few studies, however, have dealt specifically with ornamental plants used in landscapes, despite the fact that salt stres...

Remote Sensing Application for Estimation of Irrigation Water Consumption in Liuyuankou Irrigation System in China

Efficient water use is the key for sustainable management of water resources. The major reason of non-efficient management of water resources, especially in developing countries, is nonavailability of reliable hydrological information about the actual water used by different agricultural crops with in a large irrigation system or at the basin scale. Therefore, an estimation of spatially distrib...

Molecular characterization of phytoplasmas of ‘Clover proliferation’ group associated with three ornamental plant species in India

Suspected phytoplasma symptoms of little leaf, yellowing, chlorosis, phyllody, witches' broom, and stunting were observed on ten different ornamental plant species at New Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Bengaluru, and Pune, India, during March to July 2016. To investigate the possibility of phytoplasma etiology, PCR assays were performed using universal primer pairs (P1/P7 followed by 3Far/3Rev...

Comparison of the Effect of Furrow and Drip Irrigation with Waste Water Combined with Deficit Irrigation on Yield Indices and Water Use Efficiency of Corn

Today, one of the biggest challenges facing the world is the lack of water, especially in the agricultural sector. In this research, we investigated the effects of irrigation method and deficit irrigation with the urban refined effluent on biomass, grain yield, yield components and water use efficiency in single grain crosses 704 maize. This research was carried out in a randomized complete blo...

Microbiological irrigation water quality of the Marchfeld canal system.

The Marchfeld basin with a size of approximately 1000 km2 represents the Austrian "granary". To prevent shortage of water as a result of increased ground water removal for irrigation, industrial purposes and drinking water supply, a canal being 18 km in length was constructed from the Danube to the center of the Marchfeld. From there, water is further distributed via two creeks (Russbach and St...
